Can you describe your role at Management Solutions?
“I'm a project controls associate with Management Solutions. I work for our client, the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). The project managers at USACE often have substantial projects that they are overseeing, and they have busy schedules. My job as a project controls associate is to make sure that the project schedules used for tracking and reporting are high quality and financially complete and accurate. Project controls associates on the MSLLC team collaborate all day long with the project managers to ensure the best possible delivery for our clients.”
What drew you to a position at Management Solutions?
“One of my friends from my hometown that I've just kept in contact with over the years has worked at Management Solutions for several years now. When the position opened up, he reached out to me to see if I would be interested in a position here. He always had amazing things to say about Management Solutions. So, I went ahead and applied and got the position and here we are.”
“You know, even before my friend had reached out to me about this position, I'd heard him talking about the company and just the way he spoke about it, he always seemed like he was so happy with what he did and so happy with the company. He loves Misty and her mission and the company's mission. I mean, you can just tell that it's a very tight-knit group of people at MSLLC. I’ve learned that everything my friend said about the firm is true, and I think that speaks volumes about the culture of the organization.”
Are there any new skills or experiences that you've gained in this role that you find valuable now in your work or that you might find valuable down the road?
“Before this role, I had never done project controls. It's not something that you can go to a university and learn. So, MSLLC gave me all the training that I needed. They have an in-house project controls course called Project Control Solutions. I took the PCS course when I first came on board.”
How do you stay inspired and motivated in your work every day?
“I think one thing that helps motivate me is our CEO Misty Mayes’ Monday Morning Moments updates, which updates the team on all the exciting things going on at the organization each week. I always look forward to Monday morning to see what she's going to say, the updates about team members, and what's going on within the company. Misty is always positive and reminds us to be thankful for one thing each week and to take time to reflect on that one thing on Monday mornings before we start.”
“It's not hard to stay motivated; I enjoy working alongside my team members, I’m interested in the work I do for my client, and I’m invested in the projects I work on to support Management Solutions’ internal strategy. Working here has been so rewarding. Every step of the way, there is a new challenge and it's easy to stay motivated when there's always a new goal to strive for.”
Management Solutions was just named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in 2024. What does it mean to you to work for a company with this kind of exponential growth?
“It's incredible. Since I was hired, I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time with the Director of Business Development, and I’ve witnessed her team’s commitment to growing the firm. I’ve been able to learn about the inner workings of how to steer this big ship that seems like it always has something new and exciting to accomplish. I think for my career development that Management Solutions is a great place to learn from experts who are doing great work for their clients and colleagues every day. As such, my goal is always to do the best work that I can for my client, to continue to help in any way I can, and to be the best employee I can be for the company.”
How do you add value to the MSLLC team each day?
“I think I add value by consistently making myself available for anything that anyone at the firm needs. When I first started at Management Solutions and was awaiting placement on a contract, I was always reaching out to my colleagues, trying to stay active and getting my hands on as much as I could. My goal is to provide solutions to challenges that, while they might not be the biggest challenges that the company is facing, solving them would improve efficiency for our clients and our internal team.”
